What’s in this stuff…?

gia-skincare-products.pngAs many of you already know, I have been a trusted Skincare Expert, Make-up Artist and Hairstylist for well over 25 years. Choosing the right products that are created ethically, eco-friendly and above all, products that “Actually Work” has always been a # 1 priority. I would not use anything that I wouldn’t use on myself, customer, friend or family member.

These are examples of a list of questions that we have received:

Is it true, that ingredients that you can’t pronounce are very bad for your skin?
This is False! When a customer looks at a product package and sees a word that is long and they can’t pronounce, it does seem a bit scary. The truth is that the FDA requires product manufacturers to list the Latin Binomial name of a plant-based ingredient. Which means, Example; Simmondsia Chinensis is (Jojoba Seed Oil) or Fragaria Chiloensis (Strawberry Oil). One of my favorite ingredients is Hyaluronic Acid and just the word “acid ” would make anyone think twice, but in reality this ingredient provides beautiful results for the skin!

If I have oily skin, should I only use oil-free products?
False! Depending on what your skin type is and the condition, most people really don’t know what type of skin type they are and especially if they are prone to break-outs. The last word you could ever say to a very oily skin is “oil” and I am sure they would run away from you! Please understand that virtually all make-up removers/cleansers/lotions and creams use some form of oil or emollient for it to be effective. Think about this in a cleanser... Oil cuts oil and very effective in getting your skin clean! I am not saying that all oil is created equal you need to stay away from certain oils that have been known to clog pores and suffocate the skin, such as Mineral oil. It is important to stay educated and have an open-mind about skincare ingredients because when the media sends out messages that this is “good” and/or this is “bad” it is to persuade the consumer for marketing purposes. You could be missing out on trying a product simply based on your assumptions.

Why isn’t there sunscreen or sunblock in your products?
Simply because we cannot find ingredients that are considered “Safe.” The Mineral sunblock/sunscreen ingredients that I have experienced have a bad feel on the skin as if you wouldn’t be able to wash them off! I have researched this for months and still won’t give the okay to anything I wouldn’t use on myself. I also believe that small amounts of sun are healthy, but do caution anyone that is in the sun to always protect yourself however means possible.

Will you be introducing a Make-up line in the future?
I love Make-up and I spent years in this part of the beauty business…I loved all the creativity, fun and most of all, the smiles of the women that I have had the honor to create looks for!
Skin is our Focus and always will be…I believe that make-up can cover flaws and can accentuate the beauty you already have, but underneath it all is your “True” skin. Your make-up is like Fashion, it changes all the time! Your skin is an investment through years to come ~

I use most of your skincare, have you thought of body products?
Yes! We will be launching G’spa early Fall 2011 and we also have very unique specialty product that no one in the marketplace has! Stay tuned *********
